About Us
Our Story
Bhaalu Books was founded with a simple yet powerful goal: to help parents share Indian stories with their children in Telugu and English. We aim to promote the Telugu language and culture in predominantly English-speaking countries, offering a bridge between generations through stories. At Bhaalu Books, we believe in the transformative power of learning through storytelling. When children love a story, learning becomes fun!
Our books are bilingual—featuring Telugu script alongside English transliteration—to ensure accessibility and learning for both parents and children. Here’s why this is important to us:
- Learn Telugu script: Parents and kids can use their knowledge of English to learn Telugu script in a fun, engaging way.
- Share Telugu stories: Even if you don’t read Telugu, you can still enjoy and share beautiful Telugu story books with your children.
We are proud to be a part of this journey, helping families connect with their cultural roots and pass on the Telugu language to the next generation. Thank you for being a part of the Bhaalu Books family!
About the Founder
Hi! I’m Madhurima Parigi, the founder of Bhaalu Books. As a Telugu-American born in India and raised in Maryland, I grew up immersed in two cultures. I’m passionate about languages and wanted to share this with my own family. I married a Punjabi-American, expanding my love for languages to include Punjabi and Hindi. We always knew we wanted our children to experience the rich cultural heritage of India and gain the cognitive benefits of being multilingual in America.
After the birth of my son, I realized that most of the books we read were in English. I struggled to find Telugu story books for toddlers, which inspired me to create my own bilingual books. I wanted these stories to be accessible to families like ours, where language and culture are central to identity but may be harder to pass on in an English-dominant world.
